Dr. Cowgill プロフィール

Dr. Cowgill received his DVM degree from the University of California at Davis and completed his internship and residency training at the University of Pennsylvania. From 1973-1976 he completed post graduate training at the Renal and Electrolyte Section of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in basic renal physiology and nephrology and earned a Ph.D degree in Comparative Medical Sciences in 1976. He is Board Certified in Small Animal Internal Medicine and a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Small Animal Internal Medicine).

Dr. Cowgill is a Professor in the Department of Medicine and Epidemiology of the University of California-Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and has been a member of the clinical faculty at Davis since 1976. Concurrently, he is Associate Dean for Southern California Clinical Programs and Director of the University of California Veterinary Medical Center-San Diego (Clinical Programs).

Dr. Cowgill was an early pioneer in the application and perfection of hemodialysis techniques for dogs and cats and established the world’s first clinical hemodialysis program for animals at UC Davis. He is considered an authority on kidney diseases of animals and currently directs the hemodialysis and blood purification programs at both UC Davis and the UC Veterinary Medical Center in San Diego. He establishedthe UC Davis Hemodialysis Academy that currently provided over 150 hours of advanced didactic instruction to trainees in 21 countries. Dr. Cowgill has enjoyed and dedicated more than 40 years to the practice of veterinary internal medicine and nephrology.
